The CARE project successfully organised its first online webinar, bringing together partners and participants for an engaging session dedicated to community cycling activities.
The webinar was delivered by Spyros Papageorgiou, representing the lead partner Cities for Cycling (CFC), who introduced the core elements of the CARE programme and highlighted the importance of well-prepared volunteers and ride leaders in supporting safe and inclusive group cycling activities.
During the session, participants explored practical guidance on how volunteers can effectively manage group rides, ensure safety on the road and create a welcoming atmosphere for cyclists with different levels of experience. Special emphasis was placed on communication, group support and simple safety practices that help participants feel confident and included during cycling activities.
Another key topic of the webinar focused on the development of partnerships with local cafés and businesses. These collaborations can create friendly meeting points for cyclists, offering places to rest, socialize and strengthen the connection between cycling activities and local communities.
The webinar marked an important first step in building a strong network of volunteers, cycling leaders and local partners that will support the implementation of CARE activities across participating countries.
More CARE activities and training sessions will follow in the coming months as the project continues to promote community cycling and sustainable mobility.
