The CARE Erasmus+ project is pleased to announce the publication of its latest deliverable: “D2.2 – Pedal & Connect: Training & Café Setup Report.”
The report presents the preparatory work carried out within the CARE project to support the implementation of community-based cycling activities for older adults across Greece, Bulgaria and Poland. Developed within the framework of the Erasmus+ Sport programme, the deliverable highlights how cycling can contribute to active ageing, social inclusion and community engagement.
One of the key components of the report is the Pedal & Connect volunteer training programme, designed to equip volunteers and project partners with the practical knowledge needed to support safe, inclusive and socially engaging cycling activities for seniors. The training focuses on cycling safety, group ride coordination, communication with participants and methods for encouraging confidence and participation among older adults.
The deliverable also introduces the concept of the CARE Café Network, an innovative element of the project that connects cycling activities with accessible community spaces. CARE Cafés will function as welcoming meeting points where senior participants, volunteers and local residents can gather before and after rides, rest during activities and strengthen social interaction within their communities.
The report includes:
- An overview of the CARE methodology and objectives
- Details of the volunteer training structure and content
- Practical recommendations for organising cycling activities for seniors
- Information about the selected CARE Café locations in partner countries
- Examples of how community spaces can support active mobility and social inclusion
Through this deliverable, the CARE consortium continues working towards the creation of healthier, more connected and age-friendly communities, where older adults are encouraged to remain active, socially engaged and confident in their mobility.
The full deliverable is available on the “Deliverables” section of the website.
